Fundraiser for ‘ANTHOLOGY: Oral Histories on Contemporary Abstract Art’
As part of Creative Australia’s AusArt Day 2025, SNO is hosting a digital fundraiser for an oral history project entitled ‘ANTHOLOGY: Oral Histories on Contemporary Abstract Art’.
Nonobjective abstract art, barely 100 years old, could be called a hybrid form of contemporary art - more a science of visual perception than a complex mode of representation.
SNO seeks funds for researchers to undertake interviews and conduct seminars on the subject of contemporary nonobjective Australian art. These oral histories, or SNO Interviews, will provide insight into the motivations, inspirations and tribulations of contemporary Australian abstract artists, and investigate the influence of abstraction in society. From this, SNO Publications is seeking to create a collective manifesto called ‘ANTHOLOGY’ that functions both as a curatorial device and a cultural map of the field.
Donations directly contribute to fees related to research, interviews, and seminars conducted as part of the project.
